Slamlocks

Van slamlocks are the ideal security device for your van doors as you need to use the key to get back in after the door has been slammed shut, hence the name slamlock. Originally designed for couriers who may have forgotten to lock the van door after it had been closed, slamlocks were developed so that this would not happen. Thus thwarting the opportunist thief that would prey on the forgetful courier who had forgotten to lock his van door.The courier could no longer forget as the slamlock would not let them.

It only takes a couple of seconds for a thief to open the van door and run off with whatever he can lay his hands on, that could be parcels or equally a tradesman's drill. Usually favoured by companies who would like the door to be locked at all times and not having to rely on the operator to remember to lock the van.

Fitting slamlocks provide a visual deterrent and also additional peace of mind knowing that to get back in the door the supplied high security key needs to be used each and every time access to that specific door is required.

Although very effective, slamlocks operate very simply. There is usually a cable that goes to the original handle which has two uses. The first is to release the door by pulling on the cable that goes to the latch assembly and then the second is to allow the driver to slide the door open. By connecting the slamlock to the cable instead of the handle it means that the door is only released when the slamlock is operated rather than by just pulling the handle.

All of our Slamlok® van slamlock kits are supplied keyed alike with a set of 3 keys and all of the fixtures and fittings needed to provide a quality installation. This includes stainless steel backplates, shields and cam assemblies.

They also work on the Vanlok® key system meaning that you can have whichever locks fitted to your van keyed alike with one key saving you from having lots of separate keys for your van locks.
